Last Two Days in the Yuma Foothills

Sunday, we did camp chores and planned to visit the pool side Happy Hour for drinks and music.  A wind storm was in the forecast so there wasn't any activity. The sun was still shining so we stayed a while but the wind did pick up quickly.  Before we could get back to our site, the mountains were out of view from blowing sand.  Monday was our last day so we planned a picnic with the Tates, but we had to move it from our site to their house as the wind was still blowing and the temp had dropped into the low 70s. (Yes, I know, but after days in the high 80s and 90s, 70 required a jacket.) We said our good byes to the Tates till we see them in August at Lake Wenatchee.

The sand is blowing so the mountain view is faint.
The trees and flag signs are bending in the wind.

Mountains barely visible from our campsite.

The winds came from the North with a big sand cloud.

Driving along  produce fields on  AZ 93 in the Foothills

We had been talking about seafood so dinner
at the Red Lobster sounded like fun.  It was
okay but I don't have to go to another one.
Sonny got his coffee fix.  This store had a Pike Market
mural of the first Starbucks in Seattle.  Hard to see
but the market flowers and fish tossing are in the mural.

There was a large car show in Yuma over the
weekend so we saw many restored vehicles
on the road.
The Tate's winter home in the Foothills.

Indoor picnic.  The Tates sent us off with a huge
bag of fresh grapefruit from a neighbor's
tree.

My favorite picnic treat.

Our campsite at Fortuna de Oro in the Foothills near Yuma.
The resort had 1300 sites and is on level ground so it was great for bike riding.  Many sites were empty since the residents had left for home on March 1.

Field workers at harvest.

I heard that these buses come up every day from Mexico
towing the porta potties.
