Sunday Feb 28th

Our friends picked us up and we headed for the Market Place near the airport. Vendors, food and music. We walked the isles, people watched, enjoyed the music and had a snack.  Afterwards, we drove out to the Imperial Wildlife Refuge for a short hike in the painted desert. On the way back to the Foothills, we stopped at Lake Martinez to watch the impressive sunset.

The marina hot spot at Lake Martinez.

I took a zillion pictures of the sunset but I tried to
limit to only a few here.

Clouds in the east reflecting the sunset.

Party boat leaving the marina with partiers still on board.

The last one!

It was late afternoon when we arrived but the docent
took time to talk to us about the area and the wildlife.
We saw the resident tortoise on a slow walk to his
dinner bowl.

Rock formation 10' to 12' tall on our hike.

Painted desert in the Refuge

Looks like another planet perhaps. We
were hoping to see more desert flowers
in bloom but not so in this area.

Jim and Sonny looking at ironwood trees.

Landscape of layers and colors.
